Deborah McFerran is now an EIP teacher after teaching third grade for the past three years at Martinez Elementary School.

"Over my 24-year career, my life experiences have offered me the opportunity to teach diverse curriculums in various settings from kindergarten to college level in private and public schools," she said. "I have come to know that my responsibility as a teacher is to stimulate my students' desire to seek knowledge while facilitating the presentation of the academic material.
"I teach to impassion my students with a sense of joie de vie - the joy of life. I want my students to discover their own talents and capabilities by making connections between their existing knowledge and new knowledge, thereby empowering them to become life-long learners."
