Softball star to go to Tennessee Tech

Greenbrier's Kristan Glover became the first Columbia County athlete to commit to a college program for the 2004-05 recruiting season last week.

Glover verbally committed to Tennessee Tech University, according to coach Garrett Black. Glover will be reunited with former Wolfpack softball teammate Katie Sutherland at Tech.

Glover has 82 wins and more than 830 strikeouts in her career for Greenbrier. She is on pace to become the first player in state history to surpass 100 wins and 1,000 strikeouts for a career.

Verbal commitments are nonbinding, and NCAA rules prohibit Tennessee Tech's coaches from talking about a recruit publicly until the recruit signs a national letter of intent. Glover has said she plans to sign in the early signing period, which runs from Nov. 10-17.
