Evans (2-1) at Greenbrier (0-3)
7:30 The Brierpatch
Last Meeting: The Wolfpack has won three of four meetings with the Knights, including a 26-12 win last season.
Key Players: Evans- QB Brad Freeman, WR Ryan Crislip, RB Cheng Ho, DB Jay Acree, LB Jonathan Amerson. Greenbrier-WR Eugene Rogers, LB Reggie Rice, LB Erik Smith, DL Edward Curtis, CB Charlie Kupar.
Key Matchup: Evans defense against Greenbrier quarterback.
Outlook: This game will depend largely on who plays for Greenbrier. The Wolfpack's season has been decimated by injuries to Rogers, Smith, QB Sean Gray, and DT Chuck Middleton. The team that looked to be a factor in the region playoff race has yet to show up. All or none of the aforementioned players could return, but coach Mickey Derrick isn't about to tip his hat one way or the other. Evans has a chance to have a special year after upsetting Laney, and a march to the playoffs could begin with a win against their county rival. With Lakeside looming next week, the Wolfpack must get on track quickly or this could be a long season.
Richmond Academy (0-4) at Harlem (2-2)
7:30 Harlem
Last Meeting: Harlem lost last season to Richmond Academy 41-21.
Key Players: ARC-LB Jon McKinney, QB Levaughn Sloans, OL Fernando Walker, K/P Cline Beam, RB Fred Claiborne. Harlem-RB Gabe Greer, WR Jeremy Larson, QB Alex Hintz, RB Chris Newsome, OL Mark Boiter.
Key Matchup: ARC's linebackers against Harlem's triple option.
Outlook: The Bulldogs rebounded from a 35-2 thrashing at the hands of Jefferson County by blasting Richmond Hill last week. Harlem can set themselves up for an overachieving season with a win over the hapless Musketeers. They must avoid, however, looking ahead to Thomson next week. Head coach Jimmie Lewis probably won't let his team do that.
