Softball tryouts

Hockey clinics

Beginner ice hockey clinics are being held at the Augusta Ice Sports Center. The clinics will run Saturdays throughout the month. The clinics are open to ages 4-12. For more information call, 863-0061.

Fastpitch tryouts

The 14 and under Grease Lightning Fastpitch travel team will hold tryouts Saturday for the 2004-05 season.

Tryouts will be at Riverside Park from 10 a.m.-noon and is open to all girls 14 or under by Jan. 1. For more information, call 533-3288.

Swim tryouts

Greater Augusta Swim League will hold tryouts for the 2004-2005 season Thursday. Ages 10 and younger will try out from 5-6 p.m. and ages 11 and up will go from 6-7 p.m. Attendance is required on each day. For more information, call Russ Eidman, 364-3107.

Players sought

A Columbia County tournament baseball team is looking for players ages 11 and 12. For information, call Brad Thompson, 541-9726.

Tennis tournament

Petersburg Racquet Club will be the host of the 2004 Banana Open Tennis Tournament Thursday-Sunday . Players will compete to qualify for the Banana Open Challenge in Hilton Head Island, S.C., Sept. 30-Oct. 3.

Divisions are Mens and Womens Singles and Doubles and Mixed Doubles.

Cost is $30 for first event, and $15 for the second event. Deadline for entry is Sept. 5 at 6 p.m. For more information, call 860-9288.
