The state Department of Labor has awarded Muns Welding and Mechanical Inc. with the an award of excellence for workplace safety in 2003.
Baylor honors
Deppe Heather Marie of Evans and Ortiz Alvaro of Evans were named to Baylor University's Dean's Academic Honor List for the 2004 spring semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.

Patrizia Antoinette Grigsby of Grovetown has graduated from University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kan.
Education workshop
Terri Washer of Crossroads Academy in Grovetown participated in a U.S. Department of Education Teacher Workshop in Orlando, Fla. on July 12-14. She learned the latest effective practices and research-based methods to raise student achievement.
Real Estate awards
Two Evans residents have received awards for their work in real estate.
Jerry Havens and Beth Lannae, both of Prudential Real Estate in Evans, have received an award that recognized residential sales professionals who sold between $240,000 and $499,00 in closed residential GCI, commercial GCI or 70 closed residential units for the year.
College graduates

College graduate
Adam Charles Sanders, son of Dr. & Mrs. Andrew Sanders of Martinez, has graduated Cum Laude from Wheaton College with a bachelor of arts degree in English and philosophy. Adam also was named to the school's dean's list for the spring semester.
Academic scholarship
Brandon Dial of Evans has been awarded a $4,000 academic scholarship for the 2004-2005 academic year at the Mississippi College School of Law. Brandon is a first year law students and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Dial of Evans.

College entrance
Sharon O'Rourke, a graduate of Lakeside High School, has entered The Art Institute of Charlotte as a first-quarter student majoring in Interior Design. Sharon is the daughter of Tom and Debbie O'Rourke of Augusta.

Manager appointment
Wayne Tomlin has been appointed as the Consumer Service Manager at the new location of Jim Whitehead Tire and Auto Service in Evans. Tomlin, a native of Birmingham, Ala., moved to Augusta in 1990 to serve as store manager or Tire Centers, Inc. and joined Jim Whitehead Tire and Auto Service in 2000.
