I'm not sure I've ever responded to an article or editorial that appeared in a newspaper. However, I just had to tell how much I enjoyed Barbara Seaborn's humorous take on purchasing school supplies in the August 4 issue of The Columbia County News-Times.

I cannot tell you how many times, while buying over $100 of school supplies this year, I said to my fellow shoppers, friends, family members and whoever else would listen, "Whatever happened to starting school with a couple of pencils, a spiral notebook, cigar pencil box and a cool new Barbie lunchbox?"

I, like Seaborn, am truly dumbfounded by the endless school supply shopping lists.

It is funny, and I wanted to let her know that she "took the words right out of my mouth" as I sat and laughed aloud while reading her column. Thanks for writing such a humorous take on the annual school supply shopping extravaganza. I loved it.
