Editor:
In response to R.H. Elliot's letter concerning Gordon Park Speedway, someone needs to get their facts straight.
Judge Bill Fleming ruled that track owner Bill "Catfish" Reese is and had been in compliance with all local and state laws; therefore, there was no reason for the race track to be shut down.
Reese, as well as Randy London, Colin Bickley and William Goolsby have all put in long, hard hours of work to keep the track open, and they do not get the credit they deserve for fighting for what is right. I applaud their actions. Keep up the good work.
If the race track closes it will be one less thing for people to do in Augusta and then we all lose, not just Reese. Every race car driver, race fan and vendor who supports racing in the CSRA, and those who come from outside the area to race here, will lose something that they all love and enjoy.
Perhaps Elliot should check the facts and public record before he speaks and proves himself uninformed.
