Iowa grad
Catherine Laura McClure-Jackson of Evans has earned a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the University of Iowa.
President's List
Rhonda Jones was named to the spring quarter President's List at the Heart of Georgia Technical College, Dublin, Ga. A student must earn a 3.65 or higher grade point average to be named to the list.
Jones of Columbia County is a part-time student at the school.
Belmont grad
Lindsay Davis of Evans has graduated from Belmont University with a bachelors degree in Music.
Davis, a 1999 of Lakeside High School, will continue her studies in the fall at the Boston Conservatory to pursue a masters degree in vocal performance and opera studies.
UGA scholar
Tiffany Nicole Umlauf of Grovetown has been named a Presidential Scholar at the University of Georgia for earning a 4.0 grade point average during her freshman year.
Tiffany, the daughter of Paul and Denise Umlauf, was a STAR student at Harlem High School, where she graduated in 2003. She has also been accepted into the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and been awarded a scholarship from the Regions Financial Corp., Regions 2004 Right Way Scholarship and the Watson Brown Foundation.
Presidential scholar
Joshua Woodward, a student at Lakeside High School, took part in the July 3-10 Presidential Classroom Scholars Program in Washington, D.C.
He joined more than 450 other high school juniors and seniors to discuss key political issues while attending seminars given by political figures and the heads of federal agencies.
Workplace safety
The state Department of Labor has awarded Muns Welding and Mechanical Inc. with the an award of excellence for workplace safety in 2003.
Scholarship recipient
Purvi Shah has accepted a Sam Walton Community Scholarship, which is open to high school seniors and is used for their freshman year at an accredited U.S. college or university approved by the Wal-Mart Foundation.
Purvi will attend the University of Georgia in the fall and plans to major in biology/pre-medicine.
ASU business
Tim Chan of Evans placed third in e-commerce and 6th in marketing competitions at the Phi Beta Lambda 2004 National Leader Conference in Denver
Chan is a student in the College of Business Administration at Augusta State University. Phi Beta Lambda is a national organization for students at the college level who are preparing for careers in business or business education.
ASU's PBL chapter competed at the state competition in April, where seven students earned a spot at the national competition.
Baylor honors
Deppe Heather Marie of Evans and Ortiz Alvaro of Evans were named to Baylor University's Dean's Academic Honor List for the 2004 spring semester. To be named to the Dean's List, a student must be an undergraduate with a minimum grade-point average of 3.7 while enrolled in a minimum of 12 semester hours.
