School zones can keep students from getting advanced courses

I have recently contacted the Columbia County Board of Education, to no avail, to find out that three advanced placement classes offered at Lakeside High School, but not at my school, Evans High, are unavailable to me simply because of where I am zoned. The school board informed me that they do not give waivers for taking AP courses at other schools.

Considering the Joint Enrollment Program at Augusta State University no longer allows students to take history or psychology courses, because of the HOPE Scholarships ever-closer demise, I do not see how such can be denied to students, especially when the means of such actions are beyond their control.
