He and his wife, the former Madge Fry of Clarkesville, Ga., reside with their daughter, Kimberly Ann, in Martinez.

Twins champs

The Martinez Twins, coached by James Cason and Tommy Williamson, won the 1971 Minor League Championship with a record of 11 wins and one loss. The Twins also won the championship in 1970.

New park

A new sign has been erected at the site of the Columbia County Exchange Club Park. The nearly completed baseball park is located on Belair Road in Evans, just across from Bel Air Elementary School.

Sewage service

Columbia County citizens in the Reed and Crawford creek areas will be advised of the availability of sewage service when they receive next month's water bills.

According to Commissioner A.R. "Ted" Lane, tentative fees are $150 for tapping the line. Sewage bills are to be $1 per month plus half of the water bill. Sewage bills will be no more than $5 per month or less than $2.50.

New bank headquarters

The Bank of Columbia County began banking operations in new facilities beginning July 19, 1971, at 220 North Louisville Road in Harlem.

E.D. Clary Jr., chairman of the board of directors, said the new facilities and operations continue to provide the modern full-service banking to Harlem, Columbia County and surrounding areas.

Disadvantaged help

Disadvantaged school children in Columbia County will benefit from three special programs under Title 1, ESEA, during 1971.

Funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act are distributed locally on the basis of the number of school-age children from families with annual incomes less than $2,000.
