Football conditioning

Football R' Us will hold its annual football conditioning program beginning Tuesday at Lakeside Middle School.

Lakeside will sponsor the two-week camp for sixth, seventh and eighth graders. The camp will run on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and will continue the same rotation beginning on July 27.

The camp, which had 40 participants last year, will feature various drills to prepare the middle-schoolers for football practice this fall with their school teams.

Dixie Youth tournament

Columbia County teams fared well in the recent Dixie Youth District Tournament in Wrens, Ga.

The Columbia County National Team beat Swainsboro, 6-1, and West Augusta, 5-4.

Tennis tournament

The Mark Brown Memorial Junior Challenger recent wrapped up at Petersburg Racquet club.

The winners were:

Boys 18-Tony Bertucci; Boys 16-William Holloway; Boys 14-Daniel Pique; Boys 12-Kenneth Mooney; Boys 10-Austin Bryan; Girls 18-Catherine Holmes; Girls 16-Keaton Sanders
