Foundation names scholarship winners

The Watson-Brown Foundation has announced that 337 teens have been awarded the group's 2004-2005 annual college scholarship awards, setting a group record for distributing more than $1.1 million in aid.

Each of the chosen scholars will receive a $3,000 scholarship, and another 28 scholars earned merit-based scholarships for $5,000 each. This year's scholars will attend 69 four-year accredited colleges or universities throughout the nation.

Fifty-four students from Columbia County received the award, which was established in 1970 by Walter J. Brown to benefit outstanding students throughout the Central Savannah River Area.

The Columbia County Watson-Brown Scholars this year are:
