Endorsement: Lewis Blanchard, Sheriff

Editor:

This is in response to Floyd Brown's segment in the Readers View. I have known Lewis Blanchard and his family for a number of years. His tenure with the Columbia County Board of Education as public safety director was impressive. He secured grants for the school system with then-supertindent Tucker Vaughn to purchase two-way walkie talkies for the schools. He worked through numerous situations within the school system. He did all of this because of his family's name and influence. The generations before him, his father and uncles, they provided so much guidance and groomed him into the man he is today.

As far as him being an "arrogant twit". Does Brown know a lot about Lewis? Probably not or he would see the humble guy, who is strong in his conviction and lives by the creed of doing what is right. We are going to elect Blanchard sheriff because he is the right candidate, not because of his family name. On that note, all the Blanchards that come to mind when I think of Columbia County did nothing but provide growth for this great county something I see Lewis doing as our next sheriff.
