Editor:
It appears that former Columbia County Chairman Jim Whitehead is blinded by his own arrogance -- and totally incapable of accurately representing the people of District 24.
In a recent interview with a weekly area publication, Whitehead tried to belittle state Sen. Joey Brush for having removed the New York state flag from the rotunda of the Georgia capital (February 1997), and that only after New York Gov. George Pataki had disgracefully removed Georgia's official state flag from the New York capital.
Whitehead must never again be elected to public office anywhere in the South. The people of this area fully support Brush for having made that retaliatory move. And isn't Brush's courage and independent spirit the real reasons liberal-leaning publications fear him and want to replace him with a puppet they can control?
Whitehead needs to relocate his tire business to New York where his arrogance and South-bashing might be better received. We don't welcome his attitude here in the 24th District. ... For solid representation Brush is the clear choice for all of the 24th District.
