Ten years ago, David Huguenin appointed J. Wade Padgett to the position of associate magistrate of Columbia County. Wade has been by Huguenin s side as this county grew and as the Magistrate s office developed. Together, they have heard thousands of cases and David's influence, advice and constant presence as a mentor have shaped many of the decisions that Wade has made as a magistrate judge.

Therefore, I recommend J. Wade Padgett as Columbia County's chief magistrate judge. I have known Wade for years. Wade has always displayed a high degree of integrity, responsibility, and ambition. He is definitely a leader rather than a follower.

I have had an opportunity to work with Wade on the Leadership Augusta Board of Directors. The value I admire most about Wade is his ability to tackle difficult issues and always remain fair and open. He strives to consider what is best for the group. Wade is also a dependable team player. His good judgment and mature outlook ensure a logical and practical approach to all of his endeavors. It is these qualities that I feel he will bring to the chief magistrate judge, a position that will allow him to serve more people in our community.

Columbia County is Wade's home, and this is where his heart is. This is the place where he has chosen to raise his children, and he is committed to justly and fairly carrying out the law in order to continue to make the community a safe one for this generation and for generations to come. I am confident that he will successfully carry out the role of chief magistrate and maintain the standards of excellence established under David Huguenin's tenure. Wade will promote the continued growth and effectiveness of the magistrate's office.
