Blanchard had good parents

There has been such a hullabaloo concerning the candidate for sheriff, Lewis Blanchard, and his trading and running on the influence and good name of the Blanchards in Columbia County. I feel it is the time to give Lewis' mother's family credit for being first-class, honorable citizens as well.

Sandra Blanchard and her parents, the Grady Smiths, and I have known each other since Sandra was 17. Sandra's mother is a lovely lady, and Sandra's father, Grady Smith, is an astute businessman.

Good grandparents start a child off in the right direction, and continue to guide them part-time even when the child is fortunate enough to have two caring parents.

There is no doubt that when Sandra and Joe Blanchard married she was received with many open arms. Sandra brought into the family her exceptional family values, her quiet dignity, sparkling eyes, infectious smile and little Lewis was the icing on the cake.

With the kind and patient upbringing Lewis Blanchard has enjoyed from Joe and Sandra, Lewis has developed into a sharp-minded young man with many good qualities which we need in the sheriff's office.

It is true that we should judge a racehorse by its past record, but doesn't everything change when a new horse enters the race?

Be sure to vote.
