Sonny McDowell, president of the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club, (far right) presented awards to members of the community during a recent meeting. Joe Huff, (from left) the community service director of the Martinez-Evans Rotary Club received the Lee Arrendale Award. Norma Hickman, a retired public school librarian and literacy advocate received the Jean Harris Award for Outstanding Community Service. Dr. Marilyn Willis, literacy advocate at Augusta Technical College was presented $1,500 for GED scholarships. Barry Paschal, the publisher of the Columbia County News-Times, received the award for Vocational Excellence in the Field of Media.
