Ford has become 'career politician'; 'new blood' needed in 3rd District

Carol Swift is right (letter, "Ford has 'stood her ground' during County Commission terms," June 23): Ford has occupied the Columbia County 3rd District Commission seat for 12 years. I would have to assume from the letter that some people in Appling or the "rural areas" have had some sort of activity out of Ford.

Here in Walton Woods subdivision, all we have ever received from our District 3 commissioner is lip service. Both the president of our neighborhood group and I have placed many calls to our "commissioner." I never once received a call back from Ford.

The only way that I was able to converse with her was to corner her at a political meeting so that she had very little recourse but to talk to me. Those talks generated many promises. We have yet to see the results of those promises.

Recently I had a talk with her opposition. He was open and frank about what he wants to do and how Columbia County should proceed into the future. He stated that he is a believer in term limits.

I think that it is time that we cleaned house of the "career" politicians and started to get some accountability and representation.

I believe that it is time to retire Diane Ford and get some new blood in the District 3 leadership role.
