Outstanding foreign language students

Five local high school students were recently chosen as Outstanding Foreign Language Students of the Year for their high schools, said Jana Sandarg, Augusta State University Spanish professor and FLAIR Steering Committee member.

Named students are: Joshua Evan Sizemore, Augusta Christian Schools; Alex James Crean, Augusta Preparatory School; Mary Elizabeth Mangum, Evans High School; Kimberly Roholt, Greenbrier High School; and Yuk Man Cheng, Lakeside High School.

ABAC President's List

Michael B. Bishop Jr. of Grovetown is one of 74 students at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in Tifton, Ga. named to the 2004 spring semester President's List.

Each student on the list attained an A in every subject, resulting in a perfect 4.0 grade point average. The students had to carry a minimum of 12 hours of academic course work. Each student on the list also made the Dean's List for the semester.

ABAC Dean's List

Tarsa M. Andres and Michael B. Bishop Jr., both of Grovetown, were named to the 2004 spring semester Dean's List at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.

Students on the Dean's List attained a minimum grade point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale and carried at least 12 hours of academic work.

ABAC graduate

Herman Lord of Evans has graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agriculture College.

Berry College graduates

Kristen Marie Gordon and Matthew Brendan Ryan, both of Evans, graduated from Berry College, Mount Berry, Ga., at the college's commencement ceremony May 1. Gordon, daughter of Stephen J. Gordon, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government, and Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis P. Ryan, earned a Bachelor of Arts in History.

Berry College Dean's List

Several local students were recently named to the Dean's List for the spring semester at Berry College, Mount Berry, Ga. To be eligible, students must earn at least a 3.5 grade point average.

Local students named to the list were: Anthony Michael Chiles, Kristin Marie Gordon and Christy Deason Hill, all of Evans; Patrick S. Allison and Joshua Roberts Lee, both of Martinez; and Elizabeth Alisa Perry and Jeremy Warren Walker, both of Grovetown.

Achievement Academy winner

Greenbrier High School student William L. Ferguson III was recently named a United States National Award winner in English. William, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Ferguson Jr., was nominated for the award by his English teacher Kim Buchanan. William was chosen, like all other winners, on academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, citizenship, attitude and cooperative spirit, dependability and recommendations.

Mercer graduates

Several local students graduated May 9 from Mercer University. Graduates are:

Eric Michael Chaney of Evans earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Anthony Maselli of Evans earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management. Pamela Popwell of Evans earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in International Business and Accounting. Tammy Tomasello of Evans earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business. Crystal Jones of Grovetown earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Erin M. Baldwin of Harlem earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in Biomedical Engineering. Nazareth Ward of Harlem earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business. Joshua H. Evans of Martinez earned a Bachelor of Arts in Music. Erin Leigh Keel of Martinez earned a Bachelor of Music Education. Mona Patel of Martinez earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics.
