Italian atmosphere greets spa customers
Now you can visit Italy without ever leaving the county.

Tuscany, A Classic Italian Day Spa, has opened on Ponder Place Drive off of Belair Road and offers customers a number of treatments in an Italian environment.
In one room, you can get a massage under the night stars, while another room makes you feel like you are in a vineyard, with grapevines climbing the walls.
"This is a really luxury spa," said Leigh Ann Keels, the owner of Tuscany and the Augusta School of Massage, which also is located on Ponder Place Drive. "I felt there wasn't a place in town that offered these services."
Among the services offered are facials, massages, manicures, pedicures and hydrotherapy treatments. A full-service salon is also located at the spa.
"Our spa is built in an old world Italian style," Keels said. "We even have a fountain inside."
The spa, which is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., will soon offer yoga and Pilates classes.
"It's about stretching the muscles and releasing the toxins in the muscles to help you feel better and sleep better," Keels said.
The Augusta School of Massage is located on the lower level of the spa. However, Keels said the spa does not act as a training ground for students of massage therapy.
"These are two separate businesses, and I only have the best massage therapists at the spa because I am able to pick the best," said Keels, who relocated the school from Wheeler Road to its new location.
According to Keels, nearly 40 percent of the spa's customers are men.
"A lot of businessmen need a place to unwind and get rid of stress," she said. "Our spa is very comfortable. You feel like you've come home - you can relax."
