Golf officers elected
The Women's Golf Association of the West Lake Country Club met recently to elect their first officers: Mrs. Bernard Silverstein, president; Mrs. Don Grady, vice president; Mrs. Herman Peskin, secretary; Mrs. Laurence Rader, treasurer; Mrs. H.W. Duffie, publicity chairman; Mrs. Alma Easter, rules committee; Mrs. R.W. Sanders, tournament chairman.
A golf clinic is being conducted for the ladies once each week by Mark Darnell, West Lake pro.
Prep concert
The Fifth Annual Spring Concert will be given by the Augusta Preparatory School Glee Club April 30, 1970 in the Cullum Auditorium of the school.
The musical program will be under the direction of Mrs. Lucie C. Ruzick, Glee Club director and head of the math department.
Also performing on the program will be Franck Avril, who will be playing the oboe, and Steve Hill, playing the piano.
Boat checks planned
Boats will undergo regular checks at Clarks Hill during the coming water-sports season.
Drew Whitaker, district chief if the Georgia Game and Fish Commission, reminds that the major infraction found in boats last year was the failure to have Coast Guard-approved life preservers aboard.
Service news
Army SFC Mac M. Vidal, whose wife, Eloise, lives in Martinez, recently was assigned to the 1st Signal Brigade in Vietnam as a clerk.
Army CWO Milford D. Blevins, whose wife, Alma, lives in Grovetown, recently received his second award of the Bronze Star medal near Lia Khe, Vietnam. Blevins earned the award for outstandingly meritorious service as an armament maintenance supervisor with Company D of the 1st Infantry Division's 101st Maintenance Battalion. He was stationed at Fort Gordon prior to arriving in Vietnam. He holds the Purple Heart.
Army PFC Phillip M. Lokey, whose wife, Hazel, lives in Evans, recently was assigned as a member of the 199th Light Infantry Brigade in Vietnam.
Army PFC James W. McCullar Jr., whose wife, Ann, lives in Harlem, was recently assigned as a lineman with the 1st Signal Brigade in Vietnam.
