County officials have 'failed' to act responsibly

Editor:

As a resident of Columbia County and Arrowhead subdivision, I saw the recent

television newscast in reference to a house on Old Trail Road settling into

oblivion, and I was very concerned.

I've always thought of Columbia County as a wonderful place to live with a

fair system of government, and thought our commissioners do a pretty decent

job. My opinion has been somewhat slighted by the newscast.

That family has a worthless home through no fault of their own. Not only did

Columbia County's storm drain fail, it was not even located in the drainage

and utility easement set aside for such systems.

Columbia County has failed to own up to its responsibility and repair the

damaged home.

Needless to say, this situation has shaken my faith in my elected officials

and made be think twice about bragging to others about Columbia County as a

"nice place to live."
