Kindergarten registration in Columbia County is scheduled for Thursday through April 2 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Children should register in the school zone in which they reside. All students must be age 5 by Sept. 1 to be eligible for enrollment in kindergarten.
Exceptions are made if a child has moved to Georgia from another state where they were enrolled in a public or accredited kindergarten. Children in this category are eligible for enrollment provided they will attain the age of 5 by Dec. 31.
Grades one-five
Children in first through fifth grades new to the Columbia County school system are also asked to register from Thursday to April 2, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Children should register at the elementary school in the zone where they reside. A copy of their most recent report card should be brought to registration to ensure correct grade placement and all immunizations should be current.
Parents are also encouraged to bring the child's social security card, which will be used as the student's identification number.
Required for kindergarten registration:
* A certified copy of child's birth certificate
* Georgia Certificate of Immunization (Form 3231)
* Georgia Certificate of Eye, Ear and Dental Examination, also called a three-point screening (Form 3300)
* Proof of residency, such as a current utility bill
Required health forms are available from the health department, private physicians or Fort Gordon medical personnel.
