Editor:
The Georgia flag vote is a guarantee of future problems and divisiveness.
Experts felt the previously blue U.N.-like flag pushed through by Roy Barnes was about the ugliest and least appropriate flag ever designed for any political entity. The flag pushed upon us by Sonny Purdue is not ugly, but the key word "pushed" renders it, too, controversial. The flag with the Confederate emblem has become controversial and therefore divisive.
It was the legislature that instituted the flag with the Confederate symbol, replacing the pre-1956 banner. The solution is simple: The legislature should restore the pre-1956 flag and then we can all drop the subject.
