Greenbrier memorial golf
The inaugural Daniel Hall & Shane Williams Memorial Golf Tournament will be March 6 at Rocky Branch Golf Club in Lincoln County. The tournament honors the two Greenbrier High School golfers who were killed in an automobile accident last year. Funds raised in the event will help build a golf practice area at Greenbrier, with the facility being dedicated to the lives and memories of Daniel Hall and Shane Williams.
Cost to play in the memorial tournament is $300 with sponsorship of a hole, $200 per team, or $50 per player. The tournament begins with a shotgun start at noon. There will be prizes for the top three finishers, along with other awards. Registration starts at 7:30 p.m. on the day of the event at Rocky Branch. Deadline for mail-in registration is Tuesday. Free lacrosse clinics
The Family Y and the Aiken-Augusta Lacrosse Club are sponsoring four free lacrosse clinics this month for boys and girls, ages 10-14. Clinics are 6-7 p.m. today and Saturday, Feb. 28. The clinics are at Doctors Hospital Field on Ronald Reagan Drive behind the Kroger in Evans. No equipment or previous experience are required. On-site registration for the Marshall Branch youth lacrosse coed team program is available at each clinic. The youth lacrosse program session is Mondays and Wednesdays, March 1 through May 1, 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Doctors Hospital Field. Lakeside plant sale
The Lakeside Panther Athletic Association is conducting its annual spring plant sale through March 19. Boston ferns, hanging baskets and impatiens are available. Contact Linda Lake at 860-4881, any Lakeside athlete or LPAA member for an order form. Plants will be delivered to the school the week before Masters. Proceeds will benefit all Lakeside athletics. In-line hockey clinics
The Marshall Branch Family Y will offer free in-line hockey clinics for youths ages 4-12 and teens ages 13-17. Clinics are in the Wesley United Methodist Church parking lot, 825 North Belair Road, and are open to the public. Registration for Marshall Branch in-line hockey programs is available through March 6 at the clinics and at Marshall Branch, 4534 Washington Road, Evans.
The clinics are scheduled as follows:
Saturdays, Feb. 28 and March 6 - hockey school (ages 4-6) 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., in-line hockey (ages 7-12) 10 a.m. to noon.
Tuesday, March 2 - hockey school (ages 4-6) 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., in-line hockey (ages 7-12) 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, March 9 - Marshall Branch In-Line Hockey League program team selection and practice, 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Teen in-line hockey clinics are scheduled as follows:
Saturdays, February 28 and March 6 - 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.
Tuesday, March 2 - 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
