Air Force basic grads
Air Force Airmen 1st Class Brandon A. Lee and James R. Blackledge have graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises and special training in human relations.
In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Lee is the son of Anthony Lee of Greenleaf Way, Augusta, and June Garnett of Knob Hill Circle, Evans. Lee is a 2003 graduate of the Academy of Richmond County High School in Augusta.
Blackledge is the son of Nora Korrek of Penn Street in Edgefield, S.C., and William Blackledge of South Old Belair Road in Grovetown. Blackledge graduated in 2000 from Strom Thurmond High School in Edgefield and received an associate degree in 2003 from Augusta Technical College.
Wake Forest honors
Levi Anderson Pollard of Appling and Michael Douglas Soucy of Martinez recently were named to the fall 2003 semester Dean's List at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Pollard, a sophomore, and Soucy, a junior English major, had to earn at least a 3.0 grade point average to make the list.
Baylor honors list
Heather Marie Deppe and Alvaro Ortiz, both of Evans, recently were named to the Academic Honor List at Baylor University for the fall 2003 semester. Ortiz and Deppe, both seniors, had to earn at least a 3.7 grade-point average in at least 12 semester hours to be eligible for the list.
Shawn Meyers of Evans and Colleen Shirley of Martinez recently graduated from Argosy University's Atlanta campus. Meyers, earned a Master of Arts degree in professional counseling, and Shirley received her Master of Arts degree in professional psychology.
Justin Heath Brewer of Martinez recently was named to the Dean's List at Charleston Southern University for the fall 2003 semester. To be named to the list, Brewer had to earn at least a 3.5 grade-point average in at least 12 semester hours.
Allison Cook, an history and government major at Wofford College, Spartanburg, will spend spring 2004 semester studying abroad in Vienna, Austria. Cook is a Dean's List student and daughter of Tim and Kathy Cook of Appling.
