Columbia County residents braved through the ice storm that swept through the area Jan. 26. Many bunked up inside and found ways to pass the time without electricity while others ventured outside to capture images of the winter scenes. Here are few of the stories and photos of how people spent the day:
My daughter, Julie, and I did not want to go to bed when we didn't have power. The house was too quiet!
So we sat up and played dominoes, using lots of little tea lights to illuminate the pieces. When the lights came on around midnight, we actually found we liked playing the game with the lights off and continued to do so. But we were glad the heat was back on!

Special
I was much more blessed than many in our area. With gas logs in one fireplace, candles for light, my friend (who had nothing on in her house) and I played cards by candlelight, and then, with many blankets, we went to bed. May God be praised!
