President's List

Alison Nicol Leonard of Grovetown has been awarded President's List honors for fall semester 2003 from North Georgia College and State University.

Students are named to the President's List when they earn a perfect academic record of 4.0 for the semester. Leonard is a 2003 graduate of Greenbrier High School.

UGA grad

Brent Moody, son of Lisa Scurlock and Tom Moody, has graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in risk management and insurance. He is employed by AIG Aviation Inc. as an underwriting assistant in Atlanta.

NGCSU grads

Jason Howard of Evans and Liza Vega of Grovetown were among 219 students who graduated during December 2003 commencement exercises at North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega. Howard received a bachelor's degree in physics, while Vega received at bachelor's degree in marketing.

Accreditation received

Lessie M. Chapman of Evans recently completed accredited specialty course work from the University of Florida in association with MediPro Seminars, LLC, in life care planning and related catastrophic case management.

Chapman has a Master of Science in nursing from the Medical College of Georgia and is board-certified as an advanced practice nurse in psychiatric nursing. She recently was certified as a certified life care planner by the Commission on Health Care Certification. She is one of 33 professionals certified as CLCP in Georgia and the only one certified in the Augusta area.

Chapman is the founder and president of L&G Consulting Inc. in Evans.

Scholarship

Dabeney A. Peters of Martinez, a senior social work major at Elizabethtown College, received the Henry Janssen Foundation Scholarship.

Elizabethtown College is located in Lancaster County near Hershey, Pa.

Dean's Lists

Chance Chadwick Smith of Martinez was named to the fall semester Dean's List at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Smith is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordie Arch Smith.

Laura Phillips, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geoff Phillips and a 2003 graduate of Lakeside High School, has been named to the Dean's List for fall semester 2003 at Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville.

Elizabeth Combs of Harlem was named to the Dean's List for fall semester 2003 from North Georgia College and State University in Dahlonega.

Paul Green of Martinez was named to the Dean's List at Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va., for fall semester 2003.

The following students were named to the Dean's List at Berry College, Rome, Ga., for fall semester: Anthony Michael Chiles of Evans, son of Travis and Marcia Chiles; Brandon David Elijah of Evans, son of Richard and Sherry Elijah; Christy Deason Hill of Evans, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Knight Hill of Evans; Patrick S. Allison of Martinez, son of Thomas and Debra Allison; and Joshua Roberts Lee of Martinez, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey Lee of Martinez.

Limestone grads

Three Columbia County residents recently graduated from Limestone College in Gaffney, S.C.

Brenda Taylor of Evans received a business degree; Judy Fay Childers Ramsey of Martinez received a computer science/Internet management degree; and Patricia Davis Rinker of Martinez received a business administration/management degree.

President's List

Mickale Getts of Evans has been named to the President's List for fall semester 2003 at Emmanuel College, Franklin Springs, Ga.

Students named to the President's List must earn a quality-point average of 4.0 during the semester and be enrolled full-time.

College Day

Brandon Elijah, a Berry College freshman from Evans, was one of 19 Berry students to participate in Georgia's College Day at the Capitol on Jan. 14. Students were given a tour of the Capitol and allowed to observe the General Assembly at work. Georgia's Secretary of State's Office sponsored the event.

Elijah is the son of Richard and Sherry Elijah of Evans.
