Junior Olympic Softball

Tryouts for 16-and-under and 18-and-under Junior Olympic fast-pitch traveling softball teams will be at Patriots Park Softball Complex in Evans at 2 p.m. Jan. 25. For more information contact Jim Borum at 860-9489 or (706) 284-5483.

USA Team Tennis

The CSRA Junior Tennis League will have registration for the 2004 USA Team Tennis Spring season from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 24 at Petersburg Racquet Club. Players and captains can register; players who are not on a team may register as individuals and will be placed on one.

The cost is $12 for the league fee, which pays for court fees and a player T-shirt. USTA membership is $15. Those without USTA membership can register with a credit card on-line at www.usta.com and receive immediate confirmation and membership number, or call the USTA at (800) 990-8782.

League play runs Feb. 8 through March 28. All matches will be played on Sundays at 2 p.m. Age groups are 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under, and 14-and-over.

Ray Guy kicking camp

The Ray Guy Kicking & Punting Academy, a national kicking camp and talent search, is coming to Columbia County in conjunction with the Greater Augusta Sports Award Gala and the Ray Guy Award presentation for college punter of the year.

The camp will be 4-6 p.m. Feb. 4 at Evans High School.

This free camp is open to all area middle- and high-school students. Pre-registration is required, and registration forms are available at area First National Bank & Trust locations, or by contacting the Greater Augusta Sports Council at 722-8326.

Soccer openings

The Columbia County Patriots Under-11 boys select soccer team has openings for experienced players. If interested, contact Rob Davis at 860-8956. The Columbia County Patriots are a member of the Georgia Youth Soccer Association.

Soccer tournament

A TST 6v6 Soccer Tournament will be Jan. 31 at Citizens Park in Aiken. Divisions include Men's Open and Rec, and boys and girls divisions for high school, under-14, under-12, and under-10. The cost is $125 per team. Each team is guaranteed three matches, and the champions will receive individual awards. Registration deadline is Jan. 28. Referees needed

The Greater Augusta Soccer Officials Association needs referees for the upcoming Georgia High School soccer season. Refereeing experience and/or an extensive understanding of the game preferred, but not required. The GASOA provides all the training necessary to become a National Federation High School certified referee.
