Editor:
This is concerning a recent editorial urging people in the area of the proposed church near Lewiston Elementary School to be more tolerant.
According to my information, the people around that area are not concerned that the church is a predominately black church. They are concerned that the church may be a front for the developers of the golf course looking for an access on Hereford Farm Road. Presently there is not an access to the area from Hereford Farm Road except for one small logging road.
The church proposes to build a sanctuary and a family life center with a swimming pool. The church has a membership of fewer than 100 members. That is a large undertaking for such a small membership.

The people who live in the area around the school are concerned with the traffic issue. The school has produced more traffic during certain times of the day. Having an access to a golf course and 750 proposed houses will create even more traffic.
That is the main issue about the petition - not the color of those attending the church.
