Kindergarten preview

A preview for parents of pupils entering kindergarten next year at Stevens Creek Elementary will be 6-7 p.m. Jan. 29. For more information, call Susan Hadden, 868-3705.

Artrageous Sunday

Participants will create shadow-box assemblages using a wide variety of media at the Morris Museum of Arts Artrageous Sunday! at 2 p.m. Sunday. The free, hands-on family activity is held the first Sunday of each month, on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 724-7501.

Maple-making

A lesson on tapping local maple trees for making maple syrup will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mistletoe State Park. The program is free; park admission is $2 per car.

Fire meeting

The annual subscribers meeting of the Martinez Fire Department Inc. will be held at fire headquarters, 3846 Washington Road, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dog obedience course

The Augusta Humane Society will hold registration for its eight-week dog obedience and puppy socialization course from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at Julian Smith Casino, Broad Street at Milledge Road, Augusta. Proof of vaccinations is needed to sign up; pets should not be brought to the registration session. For more information, call 736-0186.

Book sale

The Friends of the Columbia County Libraries will hold a book sale 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Gibbs Memorial Library, 326 N. Belair Road. Proceeds from the sale are used to support programs and projects for the Columbia County libraries.
