Finding gifts for children was easy for the management of Augusta Harley-Davidson - they bought bicycles.

"We specialize in getting people onto two wheels, so this was a natural choice for us," Augusta Harley-Davidson General Manager Mark Gay said. "We can't give them motorcycles, so bicycles are the next best thing."

The motorcycle dealership at 4200 Belair Frontage Road near the Columbia- Richmond county line gave away 30 bicycles to children in need, in conjunction with Miracle Making Ministries on Saturday.

Santa Claus was on hand to help the kids find their new bikes at the dealership, and the gifts made many parents very happy.

"I have five sons, and I was only able to buy three bikes before I ran out of money," Augusta resident Joshua McKie said. "It's a real blessing to have bikes for all of my boys on Christmas."

This is the third year Augusta Harley-Davidson purchased bikes for needy children. This year, they spent $400 on the project.

"Miracle Making Ministries is a great organization that we're happy to be associated with," said Cheryl O'Neill, the marketing director for Augusta Harley-Davidson. "I can't think of anything more special for a child than to get a brand-new bike for Christmas."
