Inmate litter program should encourage cleanup volunteers

Editor:

As a concerned citizen of Columbia County and a board member of Metro Augusta Clean and Beautiful, I was encouraged and inspired by The News-Times story about Columbia County Sheriff Clay Whittle and the litter program using inmate labor.

We currently have 94 Adopt-A-Highway sponsors; we need 150 or more. If your church, business, or other organization would like to make a tangible difference in our community, please step up to the plate.

Call 261-4390 and Metro Augusta Clean and Beautiful will supply the equipment if you supply the labor.

//

If your organization is a current sponsor, but has not been active, You are forgiven! Please restart your Adopt-A-Highway program next weekend!
