Alumni soccer match

The Augusta Soccer Alumni match will be played Dec. 27 at Augusta Soccer Park. The tournament, which begins at 10 a.m., features a round-robin play with 11 vs. 11 or 6 vs. 6 teams, depending on participation. Alumni from Aquinas, Lakeside, Evans, Greenbrier and Richmond Academy are invited to play. The cost is $35, which includes an alumni-match T-shirt. All proceeds will go to the Jenny Clark Scholarship Fund. Meal tickets will be available to purchase the day of the match, so bring your family and friends out for a day packed full of entertainment and food. Lakeside wrestling

The Lakeside High School wrestling team fared well in the West Laurens Tournament last weekend in Dublin. The Panthers scored 268 points to place third in the 17-team field, which was topped by West Laurens (298) and Armuchee (290).

Lakeside's placers in the event were: Tim Mitchem (first, 125-lb.); Mike Ingham (first, 140); Rhett Carter (second, 152); Sam Jasinski (second, 189); Dennis Miller (third, 103); Kyle Hill (third, 145); Eddie Lee (fourth, 119); Donaven Lowe (fourth, 215); and, Trey Morris (fourth, 275).

The Lakeside wrestling team, as well as the Greenbrier High School squad, will be back in action at the Taco Bell Invitational this Friday and Saturday at Spring Valley (S.C.) High School.
