It never ceases to amaze me how generous the people of the Central Savannah River Area can be! Please express my gratitude and appreciation to the residents of Harlem for taking time this busy holiday season to host a Thanksgiving feast for 100 of our soldiers.

Harlem had specifically asked for soldiers who would not be able to go home for the Thanksgiving holiday. We chose to send 100 of our students - many of whom were spending their first Thanksgiving away from home. Harlems volunteers became an extended family and made this holiday season a special one for these soldiers.

The generosity of the people of the city of Harlem makes us realize that we truly have much to be thankful for. On behalf of these soldiers and the Fort Gordon community, thank you and happy holidays!
