Hometown Sports is back in the game

Hometown Sports is back in business, manager Karen Rigdon said.

The store closed at the end of May and reopened two months ago under new ownership. Columbia County's lone sporting goods store will maintain its same hours of operation.

"We just had a tremendous response when we opened," said Rigdon, who with her son, Ben, runs the store. "So many people came in and said, 'Oh gosh, I'm glad you opened back up."'

Hometown Sports, at 4115 Columbia Road in the Merchant's Village Shopping Center, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store is open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is currently closed Sundays. Rigdon said the Sunday closing might change in the future.

Trophy engraving, team uniforms, screen printing and letter jackets are among some of the services the 9-year-old store offers. The store also fills special orders.

"We go the extra mile to make the customer satisfied," Rigdon said. "If we don't have something they need, we try to get it.

"We hope to get the continued support that the store has historically had."
