A dozen roses can do more than just tell that special someone you care.
Caring Rose Week is from Monday through Saturday. The purchase of a dozen roses from selected florists in the Georgia and South Carolina area can help in the fight against hunger.
"This food drive will bring in at least 2,000 pounds," said Laurie Roper Harmon, with the Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Two cans of food and $10 will buy a bouquet of roses, and if you forget the cans, the cost is $12 with $2 from each dozen sold going to the food bank. The roses come in a variety of colors.

The fund-raiser has been in the area for the last several years, Harmon said.
"Jim Bush (Florist) in North Augusta always wins. They always bring in the most pounds," she said.
With the holidays fast approaching, the food drive is being held at an opportune time. However, Harmon said any time is a good time for a food drive.
The Golden Harvest Food Bank serves the hungry in 25 Georgia and South Carolina counties. Last year, the food bank through its many programs and member agencies distributed more than 8.6 million pounds of food to more than 170,000 families.
