Y Shootout

The Three-point Shootout event is at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson Family Y on Wheeler Road. Registration runs through Thursday, and can be done at The Family Y, 3570 Wheeler Road, or on-line at www.thefamilyy.org. The Shootout is for ages 13 and older, and the cost is $5. The top three finishers per category receive trophies. For more information call Kenya Berry at 733-1030.

Family run

The Gasping Gobbler 5K Family Run/Walk will be Nov. 22 at the Wilson Family Y on Wheeler Road. Registration is at the Wheeler Road Y, 3570 Wheeler Road, or on-line at www.thefamilyy.org. Participants can register until 8:30 a.m. on the day of the event. Check-in is from 8:15 to 8:30 a.m. The kids' run (10 and younger) is at 8:30 a.m., and the 5K run (11-and-up age categories) is at 9 a.m. Individual entry fee is $12, and $15 after Nov. 9. The Kids' Run is free. Long-sleeve T-shirts will be given to the first 125 entrants in the 5K race; trophies are awarded to the first-place overall finishers; and medals will be presented for second and third place finishers. Softball tryouts

The Georgia Rockers girls fastpitch organization is holding tryouts for 12-U, 14U, 16U and 18U teams for the 2004 season. The tryouts will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Patriots Park, and are for all current players, as well as new players. Volleyball tryouts
