Jessica Marie Callan, a 20-year-old junior at Georgia Southern University, was crowned Miss Columbia County Fair Queen Oct. 18 at the fair pageant held at Greenbrier High School. Twelve young women competed for the title, with phases for interview, talent, swimsuit, evening gown and overall review. Pictured are Shelly Clark (from left), a 17-year-old senior at Greenbrier High, second runner-up and winner of the swimsuit competition; Callan, who in addition to being crowned queen also won the talent competition and was chosen by her fellow contestants as Miss Congeniality; Gloria Estelle Meyer, a 19-year-old student at Southeastern Technical College, first runner-up; and Erin Danielle Beasley, a 17-year-old senior at Evans High School and third runner-up.Callan received a $500 scholarship as winner of the pageant and will cut the ribbon Oct. 30 for the opening of the Columbia County Merchants Association Fair. She also will represent Columbia County at the State Fair Pageant in Atlanta on Jan. 24. Meyer won a $250 scholarship as first-runner up; Clark won $150 and Beasley won $100.
