Octoberfest

The German Friendship Club will hold its 13th annual Octoberfest at Julian Smith Casino, 5-11 p.m. Friday, noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. German music, food and beverages will be featured.

Blood drive

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Brookwood Elementary School, 445 South Old Belair Road, Grovetown, and again Oct. 23.

Animal blessing

The Augusta Humane Society Blessing of the Animals will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hickman Park, 965 Hickman Road, Augusta.

Spooky drive

Its Spooky to be Hungry, the all-volunteer, neighborhood-based food drive benefiting Golden Harvest Food Bank, will be Oct. 25. Volunteers also will be part of the national Make a Difference Day. For more information, call 863-5863.

Georgia Cares talk

The Rosemont Baptist Association will hold an Area Agency on Aging presentation by Wallace White at 10:15 a.m. Oct. 25 at the Rosemont Multi-Purpose Building on Burks Mountain Road in Appling. White will describe the Georgia Cares program, which matches those 60 and over with prescription payment assistance options and Medicare guidance. For more information, call 832-0356.

The Alzheimers Association Augusta Regional Office will hold Memory Walk 2003 at 9 a.m. Saturday at Riverwalk Amphitheater.

The Harlem High School Class of 1979 is planning a homecoming tailgate party in celebration of the 25th anniversary football season for the class.
