Rather than being 'shut out' of case, father has been present at hearings

Editor:

We have sat idly by while our son has sat in jail for the past 64 days. He was unable to start college this past month and has no idea of the timetable of the events that lay ahead, nor do we.

But we must respond to the Sept. 10 News-Times story, Father Feels shut out of sex-crime case. The father, whom we will not name, has been in the courtroom at every court proceeding involving our son. The assistant district attorney in charge of the case has been aware of the fathers attendance, and has been seen talking with him after and during the proceedings.

We do not wish to have our sons matter tried in the paper, but we do feel strongly that the truth should be reported.

//

We adamantly hold fast to our original statement regarding this matter: If the judicial process is followed and the truth is presented - our son will be OK.
