Charlie Johnson of Martinez won second place, Boys 11-12 divison, in the Tri to Cure Youth Triathlon at Furman University Athletic Center in Greenville, S.C., on Aug. 16. Competitors from Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee swam 200 meters,
bicycled five miles, and ran one mile. Charlie is a seventh-grader at Lakeside Middle School and is the son of Kristy and Doug Johnson.
