Bike-path construction seems to have stalled

It is never easy to criticize old friends, but I feel compelled to voice concerns about the progress of the bike path construction in Columbia County.

Ground was broken on Phase II of the bike path last fall, and while I realize that we have had a very wet summer, construction projects all over the county have been undertaken and completed in this time-period, including the new county office building in Evans.

Its sad to see the state of the work that had been started and now appears abandoned. Erosion, weeds and the unsightly orange construction barrels and signs are not a pretty sight along Evans-to-Locks Road.

While the money was set aside for the project long ago, its a shame to see the delay and deterioration. This letter is not an attack on the fine employees or our hard-working elected officials; its just a request to get the bikes rolling on the right path.
