Tim Miller, (far left) assistant manager of the Evans Super Wal-Mart, presented grant checks to several local organizations Tuesday. The store donated $22,500 last year and has contributed $16,000 so far this year.
Miller presented Rotary Club of Columbia County Fire Fest chairman Lee Clark (third from left, white shirt and tie, gray hair) with $1,500 for the event. A $500 check was awarded to Charlie Beale (fifth from left, yellow shirt), Columbia County Parks and Recreation director, for the department's annual Veteran's Day BBQ Cook-Off.
Jeromy Williams, (sixth from left, blue shirt and tie) Harlem High School teacher, surrounded by his students, accepted a $400 grant check to purchase uniforms for the students in the Special education Transitional Program.
Not pictured: A $500 check was awarded to Girl Scout Troop 209 to make flower pots for nursing home residents in honor of Grandparents Day. University Health Services Inc. received a $250 check.
