High-school softball tournament scheduled for weekend

The 2003 Evans Invitational Softball Tournament will be Saturday and Sunday at Patriots Park.

The tournament features 14 high-school teams, including Evans, Lakeside and Harlem. The format begins with pool play, with teams earning seeds for three medal rounds starting at noon Saturday.

Medal-round seedings are determined on the following round-robin play: win-loss record, head-to-head, least amount of runs allowed, most runs scored and coin flip.

Contests will be on the Purple, Yellow, Maroon and Gray fields.

A tournament pass can be purchased for $8, and is good for both days of the tournament.
