Men's store is moving out of Evans
Barksdale's Menswear soon will leave its Evans location for a new site just across the Richmond County line.
The store, currently on Washington Road across from the Evans Wal-Mart, is relocating Nov. 1 to Furys Ferry Station, on the corner of Furys Ferry Road and Riverwatch Parkway, said owner and manager Joey Barksdale.
"It's difficult to move clothes because of all the packaging involved," said Barksdale, explaining the store's moving sale. "It's similar to a going- out-of-business sale. Now is the best time to buy because of the great inventory selection."
The story carries lines such as Izod, Arrow, Sansabelt, and Bostonian.

Though Barksdale's Menswear has done well its current location, Barksdale is still very excited about the new building.

"We have been very pleased with this location," Barksdale said of the building that has housed his store since Oct. 3, 1999. "But the owners of the property we are renting from decided to sell. We're very excited about the new location at Furys Ferry Station, though, because it will be closer to Augusta. It's only about 10 minutes from our current location, and we hope all our great Columbia County customers will follow us to the new locale."
Besides broadening the domain of Barksdale's Menswear, the move to the newly constructed building will also provide more space for window displays. The new store is comparable to Barksdale's current shop in size, but it has a lot more window space. Barksdale said he plans to "really accent the inside" arrangement of the new store.
"We have been successful at this location due to Columbia County residents. I'm looking forward to bringing in more Columbia County customers at our new location," Barksdale said.
