Buzz bombers
The Buzz, with Columbia County residents Andria Batchelor and Summer Peters, swept the USSSA WIndmill Invitational in Lexington, S.C., July 12. The team beat the Jets of West Columbia in the first game and the Wardlaw Patriots in the second. After Peters drove in three runs in the championship game against the Patriots, the mercy rule ended the game after the fourth inning with a final score of 20-2. The Buzz are traveling to Charlotte, N.C., July 19-26 for the NSA "A" World Series. Last year the team captured the NSA 12-and-under World Series title.
Last year, Coach Simley promised to shave his head of they won the World Series. This year he promised to get a belly button ring, which he already has picked out.
