Greenbrier volleyball

The Greenbrier High School volleyball team will hold tryouts the week of July 28 at the Greenbrier Middle School gymnasium. The tryouts will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon. Players need a physical and proof of insurance to participate. For more information call Greenbrier coach Debbie Born at 650-6043, ext. 220.

Swimming tryouts

The Aiken-Augusta Swim League, a year-round, nonprofit swim team, will hold a tryout session for the 2003-04 season. Swimmers must be able to complete 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke. The tryouts are July 29 at Augusta State University. Swimmers 10 years old or younger will try out from 6 to 7 p.m., and swimmers 11 or older will tryout from 7 to 8 p.m. Call Ken Heis at (803)613-0202 for directions or more information, or see www.swimasl.org.

Cheer clinic

Belair Conference Center is the site for a P.W.A. Cheer Clinic this Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $50, which includes a T-shirt, lunch and certificate. Registration is available up to the day of the clinic, which is for children ages 4-14. All campers will learn cheers, chants, dances, jump technique and a lot of spirit. Vendors will be present with the latest cheer gear for girls. For information on registration, contact Belair Conference Center (attn. Softball meeting

The Columbia County Recreation Department will have an adult softball organizational meeting July 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the administrative office at Patriots Park. People interested in entering a team are advised to have a representative at the meeting to secure a place for their teams. Volleyball clinic

The Augusta Junior Olympic Volleyball Club is holding a volleyball clinic July 31 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Family Y on Wheeler Road. Cindy Robarge, head coach at Coker College, will conduct the clinic. Prizes will be awarded in various categories. The cost is $25, and includes a T-shirt.
