Lakeside football practice

The Lakeside High School football team will begin practice next week. All players should report to the Lakeside gymnasium Monday at 8 a.m. For more information, contact Lakeside coach Randy Hill at 863-0027 ext. 217.

Food distribution

The Golden Harvest Food Bank's manna truck will distribute produce to people in need Saturday, July 26, at 9 a.m. at Gospel Water Branch Baptist Church, 703 Furys Ferry Road in Evans.

The produce is available on a first-come, first-served basis to all persons or families who are in need.

Church luncheon

Cathy Lee Phillips, author of Silver in the Slop and Gutsy Little Flowers, will be the guest speaker at Lewis Memorial Methodist Church's "Sisters in Christ" luncheon Saturday, July 26 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Lewis Memorial is on Columbia Road at Hereford Farm Road.

The event, sponsored by Ladies Heart to Heart, will be in the fellowship hall, and will be open to women of all ages. Tickets cost $6, and seating is limited. For more information, call Gail Johnson in the church office at 863-6795.

School council

The next meeting of the Columbia Middle School council will be Tuesday, July 22 at 1:30 p.m. in the school's media center.

Church anniversary

White Rock Baptist Church in Lincolnton will celebrate its 129th anniversary Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. L.T. Coley and the Old Piney Grove Baptist Church of Edgefield, S.C., will be in charge of services. Dinner will be served.
