Greg Woodlief ran out of space on the yellow Post-It note as he listed all Tammy John's attributes.

His stream of adjectives included: detail-oriented, very professional, and concerned about the county and residents. It made sense to him that she was named Columbia County's employee of the month for June.

"She just wants to do what's right," he said.

John has worked for the county for nearly a decade, moving from the county commissioners' office to the tax commissioner's office to the procurement office. The move to procurement has worked well for everyone, said Management Services Director Todd Glover.

"Any time we have a contract dispute, this is who I want on it," he said during Tuesday night's board of commissioners meeting. "She wants to get a solution and get a solution quickly."

He commended John for her dedication to the county.

"You are giving 100 percent to the citizens of Columbia County," he said.

John received a plaque and a paid day off for the award, and said it was a "privilege" to work in Columbia County.

"My heart is in Columbia County," she said. "It's my home. It's always been my home."
